Job Summary

IDSI is seeking a highly skilled Power Plant Operator to support the Total Maintenance Contract for the Kaiserslautern Military Community. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and effective operation of the power plant facility, ensuring compliance with national and local electrical standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe and effective operation of the power plant facility, adhering to national and local electrical standards.
  • Use a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) database to track work orders, request materials, and update work order statuses as needed.
  • Analyze equipment data and trends, formulating changes to the maintenance program procedures as required.
  • Work to eliminate unscheduled outages and perform installation, maintenance, and repair of all electrical, generator, transformer, switchgear, power grid, substation, and load center equipment.
  • Test circuits, power grids, transformers, switchgear, and controls, using meters, high-voltage testers, meggers, and similar testing equipment to measure the integrity of electrical components and detect faults, hazards, and the need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including breaker, transformer, RTS, or Protest relay testing, oil testing, infrared scanning, automatic transfer switching, and start-up on switchgear up to 500kV class, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD).

Requirements

  • Host Nation certified High Pressure Boiler Plant Operator (Hochdruckheisser).
  • Knowledge of electrical codes, utility standards, and safety programs as governed by rules, regulations, and guidelines of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ANSI, and the NEC.
  • Experience in power plant operations, power generation, distribution, transmission, and substation maintenance.
  • NICET III certification in electrical power testing or equivalent training.
  • Minimum of four (4) years' experience in power plant operations, power generation, distribution, transmission, and substation maintenance.
  • English and German at level 4 proficiency.
