Windows Binary Fuzzing Research Assistant

Fraunhofer SIT is a leading research and development institute for secure information technology in Germany and Europe. Our focus is on applied research and the development of innovative solutions for real security and data protection issues.

The Secure Software Engineering research department researches and develops innovative solutions for the automatic identification of malware, vulnerabilities, and exploits in software components. We have already developed and marketed various tools.

We are looking for a student assistant to support our team in the field of Windows Binary Fuzzing. IT security knowledge is not necessarily required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluation of existing binary fuzzers on Windows binaries
  • Expansion of program corpora for further evaluation of Windows binary fuzzers
  • Potential co-development of a dynamic program analysis tool

Requirements

  • Computer science degree and programming skills in C and C++ (please provide current transcript of records)
  • Knowledge of x86-64 assembler
  • Experience with/interest in debugger-supported analysis of binaries without debug information
  • Knowledge of Windows Internals or willingness to familiarize yourself with Windows Internals
  • Interest in fuzzing
  • Ability to work independently and interest in learning new things
