Catalyst Research Specialist

Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated individual to engage in cutting-edge research focused on catalyst systems for the direct synthesis of hydrogen peroxide. This role is part of the esteemed HyPerCat research group, where innovative methodologies and scientific inquiry are at the forefront of our work.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough testing and detailed spectroscopic analysis of both established and novel catalyst systems aimed at the efficient synthesis of hydrogen peroxide from hydrogen and oxygen.
- Synthesize and rigorously evaluate nanoparticle-based catalyst systems utilizing various characterization techniques such as X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area analysis, Infrared Spectroscopy (IR), Extended X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (EXAFS), and Small-Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS).
- Develop and construct reaction and measurement cells, as well as test setups, to facilitate experimental procedures.
- Implement operando techniques leveraging X-ray spectroscopy and infrared spectroscopy to advance knowledge in catalyst development, aiming to establish structure-activity relationships and elucidate the reaction mechanisms involved in hydrogen peroxide synthesis.
- Disseminate research findings through publications in reputable scientific journals and presentations at academic conferences.
Academic Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A university degree (Master's or equivalent) in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, or Chemical Engineering.
- A solid foundation in general chemistry, physics, materials science, physical chemistry, heterogeneous catalysis, and spectroscopy.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in designing and constructing catalytic test setups and measurement cells.
- Familiarity with X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy (XAS), Infrared Spectroscopy (ATR-IR, DRIFTS), and programming skills in Python.
- Knowledge of chemical engineering principles.
Compensation
The salary will be categorized as level 13, contingent upon meeting professional and personal qualifications.
