This role is situated within the "Mobility" Business Unit of the Competence Center "Sustainability and Infrastructure Systems" and is available for immediate engagement.

This Competence Center is dedicated to researching the transformation of socio-technical systems towards sustainability.

Your Responsibilities

  • To foster sustainable mobility and ensure its effectiveness, you will lead and oversee research and policy advisory projects for municipal, national, and international clients across the political and economic spectrum.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and our research partners, you will develop solutions aimed at facilitating the transformation of the transportation sector and automotive industry.
  • You will assess the impacts of technological, organizational, financial, and regulatory measures on climate protection within the transportation sector through simulation models and statistical analyses.
  • Your work will also consider the implications of AI and digitalization, as well as the opportunities presented by data platforms within the transportation system.
  • You will contribute to the enhancement of our evaluation methodologies (e.g., system dynamics simulation models) and empirical databases.

Your Qualifications

  • You hold a PhD in economics, transport studies, urban planning, or a related field.
  • Experience in project acquisition, management, and providing advice to policymakers and businesses is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in a programming language (e.g., Python) or experience with system dynamics models is required.
  • You possess a solid understanding of statistical or econometric methods and are adept at handling large datasets.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, along with excellent intercultural communication skills and a passion for scientific and interdisciplinary research and publication, is essential.
  • Fluency in both German and English is necessary, with the ability to effectively present research findings in both spoken and written formats.
