We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Android Developer to join our Global Expansion tribe, a cross-functional team of 40+ talented individuals responsible for bringing SumUp to new markets. The Expansion Platform & Experiences (EP&E) squad within the tribe aims to accelerate SumUp's success by reducing time to market and adapting products to meet local context needs.

The SumUp app is a primary tool for our merchants, and as we enter new regions, we collaborate with other teams to implement new features, update translations, adapt user interfaces, and ensure the app runs smoothly on various devices.

As a Senior Mobile Engineer, you will work primarily on the Android platform, adding new features and ensuring seamless performance on custom Android builds. You will also have the opportunity to learn iOS skills through code reviews, architecture discussions, and feature implementation collaboration with other teams.

You will be part of the company's Mobile Chapter, where you will learn from others and share your knowledge, contributing to a collaborative and innovative environment.

A key aspect of this role is traveling to Berlin approximately once a month for a week-long period, although most of our team is based there.

About the Role
  • Contribute to the launch of SumUp in new markets by adapting the Super App to meet regulatory requirements for financial institutions.
  • Help with automated localisation for both mobile Apps, including UI adaptation for right-to-left languages.
  • Develop new features that enhance the merchant experience and improve product-market fit.
  • Maintain a new build of our app to run on third-party Android-powered devices.
Your Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in Android development (Kotlin) with high autonomy.
  • An interest in learning iOS development or existing experience with Swift.
  • Familiarity with modularised architecture.
  • Able to collaborate effectively with multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Possess strong mentoring skills.
