Job Description:

FERRING GmbH, a leading German production company of the internationally operating FERRING Group, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Manager Global Engineering to join their team in Kiel. As a key member of the Global Engineering Team, you will be responsible for planning, leading, and managing engineering, EHS, construction, commissioning, and qualification of projects within the Technical Operations Strategic portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead projects from engineering and design through to construction, commissioning, and qualification phases in collaboration with local and global engineering, contractors, and Ferring departments.
  • Build up the local engineering and maintenance organization for new facilities by hiring engineers/technicians for various disciplines.
  • Provide engineering expertise and serve as the interface between Ferring Global Engineering, program lead, local engineering/maintenance, contractors, and other Ferring departments.
  • Ensure EHS compliance and provide technical support for installation checks during construction, commissioning, and startup of facilities.
  • Manage contacts with local authorities for permitting, environmental, waste disposal, construction zone, and facility cleaning.
  • Oversee on-site execution activities in close collaboration with the site project team, site management, Global Project Management Office (PMO), and applying LEAN principles and construction tools.
  • Coordinate activities with the engineering and maintenance department of existing sites or neighboring production sites.
  • Support future maintenance activities, including calibration, and assist in the procurement and management of critical spare parts.
  • Prepare for the implementation of the maintenance management system in alignment with Ferring standards.
  • Coordinate the training of engineering and maintenance personnel for new facilities.
  • Ensure effective coordination among all relevant Ferring departments, including R&D, LQA & GQA, Legal, procurement, production, LSC & GSC, as required.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, biology, engineering, or business administration) with some formal project management training.
  • Proficient in pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, drug development, and regulatory compliance, particularly Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and diverse pharmaceutical dosage forms, with a focus on sterile products.
  • Approximately 10 years of project management experience, preferably within pharmaceuticals or life sciences, particularly in API manufacturing.
  • Strong project management skills encompassing principles, methodologies, and best practices, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and change control.
  • Ability to lead project teams, motivate team members, foster collaboration, and resolve conflicts to ensure a cohesive and productive working environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaboration across all levels, clear project goal communication, and delivering concise presentations to various audiences.
  • Proficient in negotiating and influencing stakeholders to achieve project objectives and secure resources.
  • Strong organizational capabilities for efficient management of project documentation, timelines, and resources.
  • Skilled in addressing project-related conflicts and facilitating constructive dialogue for mutually acceptable solutions.
  • Flexible in adapting to changing project requirements, industry dynamics, and stakeholder needs.
  • Proficient in identifying and resolving project challenges and roadblocks, making timely decisions to keep projects on track.
  • Committed to maintaining high-quality standards and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company guidelines.
  • Understanding financial management principles to effectively manage project budgets and cost estimates.
  • Excellent time management skills for prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and efficient resource management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Proficiency in assessing project risks, developing risk mitigation strategies, and contingency planning to minimize potential disruptions to project timelines and outcomes.
  • Analytical skills to review project data, identify trends, and make informed decisions that support project success.
  • Ability to work with external vendors and contractors, ensuring compliance with project requirements, Global Procurement processes, and contract terms.
  • Team player with a track record of achieving results in a cross-cultural environment, open to international and multicultural settings, willing to travel for business and relocate as needed.
  • Strong commitment to ethical practices and compliance with organizational values and standards.
