About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as Head of Product Data Management in Engineering. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for leading the end-to-end product data management process, ensuring efficient and smooth data management, and qualifying and controlling data consistency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and optimize data management processes using Lean and Agile working methods to improve data handling and provision for parties in the Product Life Cycle process.
  • Lead the engineering department with employees in Erlangen and Krefeld, as well as European locations, on product data management topics.
  • Be the primary contact for consulting, problem-solving, and information exchange on PLM tool-related issues within the engineering department.
  • Drive the strategic further development of tool and process landscapes across organizations in Engineering and with SMO IT, and implement changes in user areas.
  • Implement the PLM tool "Team Center" for SMO Rolling Stock Engineering in terms of product data management.
  • Represent stakeholders' interests in engineering, ensure process and method requirements in IT projects, and monitor the fulfillment and implementation of these requirements.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or industrial engineering.
  • Many years of professional experience in engineering or complex product development, such as rail vehicles, aero, ship, or plant engineering.
  • Familiarity with interfaces between IT, development, and production.
  • Knowledge and experience in PLM tools and processes, ideally in "Team Center".
  • Initial experience as a disciplinary manager and ability to inspire and encourage employees.
  • Business fluency in English and ideally in German.
