Job Title:

Director of Communications and Assistant Advancement Officer

Job Summary:

The Director of Communications and Assistant Advancement Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy to promote the College's programs and services. This includes creating and disseminating marketing materials, managing social media, and developing relationships with local and regional media outlets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications plan to promote the College's programs and services
  • Manage and maintain the College's social media presence, including creating and scheduling posts, responding to comments and messages, and analyzing engagement metrics
  • Develop and disseminate marketing materials, including brochures, flyers, and other promotional materials
  • Build and maintain relationships with local and regional media outlets, including newspapers, radio and television stations, and online publications
  • Develop and implement a strategy to grow the number of donors to the SVCC Foundation
  • Assist in writing grants to attain funding for the College
  • Serve on the college leadership team for emergency response management
  • Represent the college as appropriate and attend off-campus events, which may involve evenings and/or weekends
Requirements:
  • Experience leading creative and innovative projects to enhance agency image, branding and recruiting
  • Demonstrated expertise in project planning, development and implementation
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of social media, social media advertising and analytics
  • Strong understanding of marketing and branding concepts
  • Ability to make data-driven decisions and to evaluate return on investments
  • Demonstrated experience working with the media
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication, written and verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of team
  • Work experience in a development / fund raising office
  • Maintain positive and professional tone in all communications
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience and at least 2 years of experience at a supervisory level
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience working in a higher education environment
