Annual Fund Development Officer

Southside Virginia Community College is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Annual Fund Development Officer to join our Institutional Advancement Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and implementing a comprehensive annual fund initiative, including face-to-face and phone solicitation, direct mail fundraising, online fundraising, donor database maintenance, and gift processing.

The Annual Fund Development Officer will lead and direct all aspects of annual fund giving, including setting and managing solicitation goals and strategies, building and cultivating strong relationships with stakeholders, and promoting the mission of SVCC to a broad and diverse audience.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing a year-round fundraising plan to build and engage the SVCC donor base
  • Creating and managing annual fund solicitations, reports, and other relevant correspondence
  • Participating in the expansion of the college's alumni program and building a core group of alumni volunteers
  • Organizing phonathon campaigns and leading fundraising projects, monthly giving programs, special appeals, peer-to-peer fundraising, and outside events
  • Writing inspiring annual appeals and cultivating beneficial relationships and partnerships
  • Supervising and managing volunteers, ensuring consistent and timely communications, and utilizing software to track visits, produce contact notes, and conduct follow-up
  • Preparing and coordinating reporting tied to data needed for reports presented to board, committee, and leadership meetings
  • Creating and implementing strategies for donor cultivation, prospecting, segmenting, acknowledgement, recognition, and stewardship

Minimum qualifications include experience working with diverse individuals, project management, creativity in gift strategies, and strong working knowledge of MS Office or comparable software suites and fundraising software. Preferred qualifications include previous experience working in higher education or for a not-for-profit organization and a Career Readiness Certificate.
