We are seeking a dedicated Occupational Health and Safety Manager to lead the safety efforts for our food processing site.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the safety practices from the ground up and make a significant impact on our operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee all health and safety programs for the new food processing site.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, conduct risk assessments, and promote a culture of safety across the site.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director H&S DACH and other H&S team members for effective teamwork across the organization.
  • Perform regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Organize and deliver health and safety training for all site employees, promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Investigate workplace incidents and accidents, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Keep accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and compliance activities to maintain transparency and accountability.
  • Work with management and employees to develop a high safety culture and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) are well-maintained, used correctly, and easily accessible.
  • Stay informed about the latest health and safety regulations and industry best practices to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Support the development of emergency response plans and conduct regular drills to ensure readiness for potential emergencies.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees on health and safety issues, addressing concerns and promoting best practices.
  • Report on health and safety performance metrics to senior management, offering insights and recommending improvements for better safety outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 to 5 years of proven experience in a similar role within Food Manufacturing, Assembly, Chemical, or Consumer Products industries.
  • Certified as an occupational health and safety officer (Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit) under BGN (Berufsgenossenschaft Nahrungsmittel).
  • Experience in fire protection processes and handling biological agents is desirable.
  • Good communication skills, capable of tailoring language and information to various audiences.
  • Proficiency in business English and German is mandatory.
  • Proficient in designing and delivering effective health and safety training programs.
  • Proficient in MS Office and health and safety management software.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and effectively communicate with a diverse team.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
