We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Materials Engineer to join our team at Mercedes-Benz AG. As a key member of our Materials Technology department, you will be responsible for developing and specifying plastics, adhesives, and elastomers for our powertrain systems.

About the Role

As a Materials Engineer, you will work closely with our development, production, and quality teams to optimize material technology components and design functional and production-oriented materials. Your expertise will be crucial in selecting suitable materials for innovative, durable, and climate-neutral drive concepts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Specification, optimization, and validation of plastics, adhesives, and elastomers with a focus on sustainability
  • Creation of test and validation plans, taking into account development deadlines
  • Material development and specification in collaboration with raw material manufacturers and suppliers
  • Responsibility for defining, implementing, and evaluating prototype setups
  • Tech scouting of new plastics, adhesives, and elastomers, as well as novel processing concepts
Requirements
  • Completed university degree in plastics/adhesives/materials technology, mechanical engineering, or a comparable field
  • Proficiency in German and English
  • High degree of responsibility and reliability
  • Independent working style and initiative
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a team
  • Strategic, analytical, and conceptual thinking skills
