We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Materials Engineer to join our team at Mercedes-Benz AG. As a key member of our Materials Technology department, you will be responsible for developing and specifying materials for our powertrain systems.

About the Role

As a Materials Engineer, you will work closely with our development, production, and quality teams to optimize materials for our powertrain systems. Your expertise will be crucial in selecting suitable materials for our innovative, durable, and climate-neutral drive concepts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Specification, optimization, and validation of plastics, adhesives, and elastomers for powertrain systems
  • Independent creation of test and validation plans, taking into account development dates and sustainability aspects
  • Material development and specification in cooperation with raw material manufacturers and suppliers
  • Responsibility for defining, implementing, and evaluating prototype setups
  • Tech scouting of new plastics, adhesives, and elastomers, as well as novel processing concepts
Requirements
  • Completed university degree in plastics/adhesives/materials technology, mechanical engineering, or comparable
  • Proficiency in German and English
  • High degree of responsibility and reliability
  • Independent way of working and initiative
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a team
  • Strategic, analytical, and conceptual thinking skills
