Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Optical Systems Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at 2140 K-T GMBH. The ideal candidate will be responsible for addressing technical manufacturing challenges and field-related concerns through systematic analysis and innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct thorough evaluations of manufacturing and field issues utilizing diagnostics, established protocols, and operational theories, presenting findings and solutions to the support team or management for standardization purposes. Develop and implement optical alignment and metrology processes, as well as test and tooling fixtures, aimed at enhancing manufacturing efficiency and reducing costs. Refine opto-mechanical designs to ensure manufacturability, while specifying essential optical components and subsystems, including lasers, LEDs, optical filters, cameras, sensors, and lens assemblies, particularly for illumination, imaging, and microscopy applications. Adhere to a structured design process that includes conducting reviews, aligning technically with suppliers, performing first-article inspections, testing, integrating prototypes, and overseeing design releases. Create and maintain comprehensive process and equipment documentation, including work instructions, drawings, and other production materials, ensuring compliance with specifications. Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Purchasing departments to address component and part quality issues, driving improvements in supplier quality and cost efficiency.Required Qualifications
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physics or a related optical discipline, with 1 to 5 years of relevant experience preferred. Proficient understanding of optical subsystems and their interactions with mechanical and electrical systems. Basic experience in optical design and simulation using Zemax software. Programming skills in MATLAB or Python for developing user interfaces. Strong ability to present and communicate technical information effectively. Capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating workloads and deadlines. Experience working within a diverse, multi-disciplinary, and global team setting. Familiarity with spectroscopy, coatings, and optomechanics is advantageous.-
