Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Specialist (Customer Support) to join our team at U.S. Army Europe and Africa. As a key member of our Information Technology Section, you will be responsible for providing complex IT support to our customers, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and customer assistance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Tier 2 support for IT users, assessing and solving local IT-related problems
  • Create, administer, and repair user and group accounts
  • Coordinate with IA and network manager on network, server, and workstation security issues
  • Install and configure software applications and provide technical support
  • Administer network security, including assigning user IDs and permissions
  • Ensure all workstations remain operational by monitoring and reporting problems
  • Analyze and diagnose complex hardware, software, and network problems
  • Troubleshoot and investigate system software, applications software interfacing, and IT equipment issues
  • Develop and recommend standard problem resolution methodologies and procedures
  • Coordinate with IT customers and specialists to identify IT improvements and ways to provide greater effectiveness and economy of services
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Knowledge of system administration and automation security regulatory directives
  • Experience with Windows, Unix, and Linux-based operating systems and basic software
  • Knowledge of system administration software programs (VPN, Dameware, etc.)
  • Understanding of personal computer hardware and software characteristics
  • Basic networking and network troubleshooting skills
  • Good communication skills and ability to deal directly with customers/end users
Preferred Qualifications

We also prefer candidates with:

  • Security + CE certification
  • German driver's license class B
  • Office automation skills
Language Proficiency

English and German language proficiency level C1 is required.

Working Conditions

This position may be filled at the C-6A or at the full performance level, C-07. The incumbent may be non-competitively promoted to the next higher or full performance level in accordance with regulatory requirements.
