Cell Therapy Specialist for Type 1 Diabetes

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Scientist to join our Institute of Translational Stem Cell Research (ITS) at Helmholtz Zentrum München. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team focused on developing stem cell-based therapies for individuals with Type 1 Diabetes.

About the Role

  • Perform cell culture and differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells into pancreatic beta cells
  • Design and conduct experiments, assays, or operational procedures and collect and analyze data
  • Manufacture ITS's current human pluripotent stem cell product (ATMP) for preclinical and first-in-human trials
  • Contribute to the development of improved human pluripotent stem cell products (ATMPs)
  • Recommend new and innovative solutions to problems using scientific creativity and expertise
  • Stay updated on current scientific and technological advancements in cell therapy
  • Supervise technical staff
  • Effectively communicate complex scientific findings and recommendations in one-on-one discussions and lab meetings
  • Write and maintain manufacturing-related documentation such as SOPs

Requirements

  • Master's degree with more than 2 years of working experience in a life science or stem cell biology discipline, or related subject
  • OR Ph.D. with at least 1 year of working experience in a life science or stem cell biology discipline
  • Hands-on experience in stem cell culture and differentiation is a must
  • Experience in flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, and molecular biology techniques
  • Skilled in writing protocols/reports/SOPs
  • Knowledge of stem cell and developmental biology
  • Proficient knowledge of English (verbal and written), and of German is a plus
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines is preferred
