Staff Scientist Cell Therapy-Type 1 Diabetes

About the Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Staff Scientist to join our team at the Institute of Translational Stem Cell Research (ITS) at Helmholtz Zentrum München. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research in the field of cell therapy for Type 1 Diabetes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform cell culture and differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells into pancreatic beta cells
  • Design and conduct experiments, assays, or operational procedures and perform data collection and analysis
  • Manufacture ITS's current human pluripotent stem cell product (ATMP) for preclinical and first in human trials
  • Develop improved (next generation) human pluripotent stem cell products (ATMPs)
  • Recommend new and innovative solutions to problems using scientific creativity, independent thinking, and expertise
  • Stay updated on current scientific and technological advancements in cell therapy
  • Supervise technical staff
  • Effectively communicate complex scientific findings and recommendations in one-on-one discussions and lab meetings
  • Write and maintain manufacturing related documentation such as SOPs

Requirements

  • Master's degree with more than 2 years of working experience in a life science or stem cell biology discipline - (bio / biotechnology etc.) or related subject
  • OR Ph.D. with at least 1 year of working experience in a life science or stem cell biology discipline - (bio / biotechnology etc.)
  • Hands-on experience in with stem cell culture and differentiation is a must
  • Experience in flow cytometry immunofluorescence and molecular biology techniques
  • Skilled in writing protocols/reports/SOPs
  • Knowledge of stem cell and developmental biology
  • Proficient knowledge of English (verbal and written), and of German is a plus
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines is preferred
