We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Research Engineer to join our team at the German Aerospace Center (DLR). As a key member of our research group, you will play a vital role in developing innovative technologies for sustainable energy production.

About the Job

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing a solar reactor for thermochemical air separation. This project aims to produce high-purity nitrogen for CO2-free ammonia synthesis, which is essential for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the fertilizer industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop a flow diagram for the solar reactor using advanced numerical simulation tools.
  • Design and build a prototype of the solar reactor with heat recovery capabilities.
  • Conduct experiments to optimize the reactor's performance and efficiency.
  • Publish and present research findings in top-tier scientific journals and conferences.
About You

To succeed in this role, you will need a Master's degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field, along with significant experience in experimental work and numerical simulations. Advanced knowledge of heat and mass transfer, thermodynamics, and reaction kinetics is also essential.
