Job Title: Senior Sustainability Manager

ISCC System GmbH is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Sustainability Manager to join our team in Cologne, Germany. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing our sustainability strategy, ensuring that our operations and supply chain are environmentally friendly and socially responsible.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement ISCC's sustainability strategy, aligning with our mission to mitigate climate change and promote sustainable development.
  • Lead the development of certification standards for the aviation and maritime sectors, ensuring compliance with relevant legislative and market requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise to develop and improve ISCC's certification standards, including ISCC EU and ISCC PLUS.
  • Evaluate and monitor international legislations relevant to ISCC's work in aviation and maritime, ensuring compliance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Support ISCC's work in voluntary markets for Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) and Sustainable Marine Fuels (SMF), developing book and claim solutions.
  • Manage a team of professionals, providing feedback and development discussions to ensure high performance and a collaborative work environment.
  • Contribute to ISCC's EU controlling, setting up relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Manage and optimize processes in the Aviation & Maritime team, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Represent ISCC in relevant forums, conferences, and events, promoting our mission and values.
  • Co-lead ISCC stakeholder activities for the aviation and maritime markets, developing new stakeholder committees.
  • Support conducting relevant trainings, including ISCC CORSIA training.
  • Carry out benchmarking with other certification systems to continuously develop and improve ISCC.
  • Develop and manage pilot projects with key partners to create certification solutions for new fuels and supply chain set-ups.
  • Provide technical support to ISCC system users, ensuring timely and professional assistance.
Requirements:
  • University degree in bioenergy, chemistry, circular economy, bioeconomy, environmental studies, business management, economics, law, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of postgraduate professional experience.
  • At least 2 years of postgraduate professional experience in a relevant field, such as sustainable fuels, circular economy, or GHG calculations.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in a leading role.
  • Preferred experience with sustainability certification, labels, and/or relevant sustainability legislation in aviation and/or maritime transport.
  • Proven professional experience in project management.
  • Excellent communication skills in an international environment, with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent language skills in English (at least C1) and good German (at least B2), with additional language skills an advantage.
  • Service-oriented thinking and excellent networking capability, especially in international environments.
  • Very strong presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex issues in simple terms and prepare professional presentations according to target group.
  • General IT proficiency and very good working knowledge in databases and MS Office.
  • High degree of initiative and very good decision-making ability, combined with an independent working style and pragmatic, hands-on attitude.
  • Willingness to contribute to the continuous improvement process and drive change.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally.
