Community Safety Program Director

Job Summary

The City of Tucson is seeking a highly skilled Community Safety Program Director to lead the management, planning, and implementation of the Community Safety Program. As a strategic partner and coordinator, you will collaborate with fellow City departments, Pima County, and other community organizations to maximize resources and ensure best practice and data-driven information is used to make the most impact to the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the program, identifying project needs, measuring objectives, and cultivating existing and future partners.
  • Supervise various levels of staff, providing feedback, regular performance evaluations, and implementing a recognition program for staff.
  • Create and maintain ongoing evaluation of program policies, projects, and procedures, ensuring program strategies align with organizational goals.
  • Develop community outreach and education programs regarding Community Safety Programs offered by the City of Tucson.
  • Communicate with leadership and elected officials through written correspondence and provide program updates and presentations at public meetings.
  • Lead the inter-agency effort to enhance the safety, health, and wellness of the Tucson community and serve as a key leader in the City of Tucson on community issues.
  • Coordinate with other departments and non-governmental organizations to address gaps in services and provide seamless service to residents and clients served.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Five years of directly related experience, including at least two years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Executive experience managing community safety, public health, or wellness programs, including experience and knowledge of finance, operations, human resources, and policy development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in grant/contract administration.
  • Knowledge of finance, operations, human resources, and policy development.
