Research Assistant in Anti-Racism in Brazil

Job Description:

The Research Assistant will collaborate with anti-racist organizations in Brazil and engage with other research teams at the Research Unit.

This position requires continuous presence in Berlin and research trips primarily to Brazil.

The main responsibilities include supporting the Research Unit and conducting a doctoral dissertation in sociology focused on anti-racism in Brazil.

The Research Assistant will also participate in the conception and coordination of research activities and workshops in Germany and Brazil, as well as the preparation and dissemination of relevant materials related to the research conducted.

This role will be part of a vibrant international, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary environment that explores and develops new forms of research cooperation on an equal footing between academic and non-academic experts from different regions.

Requirements:
  • A master's degree or equivalent in sociology or social sciences
  • Excellent command of the Portuguese language
Desirable:
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
  • Research and/or practical experience in the field of antiracism in Brazil
  • Solid knowledge of qualitative methods of social research
  • Interest in developing new forms of research collaboration, including academic and non-academic experts
  • Interest in interdisciplinarity
  • Availability for research trips
  • Intellectual independence and self-reliance
