Research Assistant in Anti-Racism in Brazil

Job Description:

The future Research Assistant will collaborate with anti-racist organizations in Brazil and engage in exchange with other research teams at the Research Unit.

This position requires continuous presence in Berlin and research trips primarily to Brazil.

The main responsibilities of the Research Assistant include supporting the Research Unit and conducting an original doctoral dissertation in sociology within the field of anti-racism in Brazil.

The Research Assistant will also participate in the conception and coordination of research activities and workshops in Germany and Brazil, as well as the preparation and dissemination of relevant materials related to the research conducted.

The Research Assistant will work in a dynamic international, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary environment where new forms of research cooperation on an equal footing between academic and non-academic experts from different regions will be explored and developed.

Requirements:
  • A master's degree or equivalent in sociology or social sciences
  • Excellent command of the Portuguese language
Desirable:
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
  • Research and/or practical experience in the field of antiracism in Brazil
  • Solid knowledge of qualitative methods of social research
  • Interest in developing new forms of research collaboration including academic and non-academic experts
  • Interest in interdisciplinarity
  • Availability for research trips
  • Intellectual independence and self-reliance
