Role Overview
Mission Statement:
This hybrid position focuses on orchestrating and executing comprehensive testing protocols for battery systems and battery management systems (BMS). This encompasses both developmental assessments and qualification testing necessary for type certification of the final product.
You will be instrumental in crafting a safe and holistic battery and BMS by conducting both development and qualification tests. You will oversee the entire testing lifecycle, which includes planning processes, preparing documentation, designing test hardware, scheduling tests, constructing test setups, executing tests, and collaborating with development teams for root cause analysis.
Testing activities may involve HIL testing, HIL automation, thermal runaway assessments, short circuit evaluations, vibration tests, and other specialized environmental tests. Additionally, you may conduct tests on battery components or materials, such as housing materials and engineering prototypes of BMS software, as well as other intermediate products related to our battery systems.
You will also identify and develop tests that enhance the understanding of component and system behavior, particularly focusing on battery cells and packs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the creation and scheduling of test plans
- Clarify and define testing requirements
- Prepare documentation for test campaigns
- Develop and maintain testing setups
- Supervise and support test execution, including collaboration with external suppliers, while also conducting tests personally
- Analyze test results and compile comprehensive reports
- Conduct Test Reviews (TRRs)
Required Qualifications:
Professional Expertise:
- Background in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields
- Over 5 years of experience in testing batteries or similar products within a technical environment (including Environmental Testing, Abuse Testing, Vibration, HIL Test Setups for electrical propulsion systems and components)
- Proficient in defining and constructing test systems and setups
- Technical knowledge in Battery Development and Testing for High Current applications or similar products
- Familiarity with HIL and software tools for automotive or aviation testing and logging (such as LabCar, dSpace, Simulink, CANoe, PCAN, etc.)
- Excellent proficiency in written and spoken English
Preferred Skills:
- Experience within the aviation industry and knowledge of relevant regulations
- Understanding of automotive standards such as ECE R100, ISO 26262, or aviation standards like DO160G and DO311A, or comparable standards from other sectors
- High Voltage training 2E in accordance with DGUV-I or equivalent
- Experience working in V-Cycle and AGILE/SCRUM environments, with familiarity with methodologies and tools (e.g., JIRA)
- Experience with PLM tools like Siemens Team Center or similar
- Familiarity with EASA approved Design organizations [Part-21J] and an understanding of the aviation certification process is advantageous
