About the Role

E.ON Energy Markets GmbH is seeking a highly skilled Senior Energy Risk Analyst to join our team in Essen. As a key member of our risk management team, you will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing the company's energy trading portfolio, identifying and mitigating potential risks, and developing and implementing risk management strategies.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in risk management, energy trading, and financial analysis, with excellent analytical and communication skills. You will work closely with our trading and sales teams to understand market trends and develop effective risk management strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze the company's energy trading portfolio to identify potential risks and opportunities
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential risks
  • Work closely with trading and sales teams to understand market trends and develop effective risk management strategies
  • Develop and maintain risk models and reports to support business decisions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective risk management and compliance

Requirements

  • University degree in a quantitative/financial/information technology or risk management discipline
  • Good working knowledge of VaR, option theory, and econometrics
  • Solid knowledge of financial instruments and their valuation
  • Excellent understanding of commodity markets and underlying energy economics
  • Proficient with SQL and Python-based data modeling and data engineering
  • Experience with renewable energies, flexibilities, or short-term optimization would be advantageous
  • Strong analytical skills, accurate, and attention to detail
  • Relevant experience in risk management or trading within a fintec, investment bank, hedge fund, consulting, or energy trading company
  • Proactive, good communicator, and team player
  • Enthusiastic and agile approach to work with a drive to learn and make continuous improvements
  • Languages: English, German would be advantageous
