Senior Risk Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Market Risk Analyst to join our team at E Energy Markets GmbH in Essen. As a key member of our risk management team, you will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing market risks associated with our energy trading activities.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and analyze market risks associated with our energy trading activities
- Develop and maintain risk models to assess and price market risks
- Review and challenge proposed hedging strategies and commodity contracts
- Monitor PnL and risk metrics of our energy trading activities
- Report to management on performance and compliance with risk policies
- Develop and maintain reporting tools and automate risk monitoring processes
- Review and ensure alignment of risk metrics across regional units
- Quantify portfolio effects and correlations between regional units and risk types
- Facilitate best practice transfer between regional units
- University degree in a quantitative/financial/information technology or risk management discipline
- Good working knowledge of VaR, option theory, and econometrics
- Solid knowledge of financial instruments and their valuation
- Excellent understanding of commodity markets and underlying energy economics
- Proficient with SQL and Python-based data modeling and data engineering
- Experience with renewable energies, flexibilities, or short-term optimization
- Strong analytical skills, accurate, and attention to detail
- Relevant experience in risk management or trading within a fintec, investment bank, hedge fund, consulting, or energy company
- Proactive, good communicator, and team player
- Enthusiastic and agile approach to work with a drive to learn and make continuous improvements
