Job Title: Optical Systems Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Optical Systems Engineer to join our team at TOMRA. As an Optical Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the development of sensor components for our sorting machines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop spectroscopic sensors, pulsed laser assemblies, and laser triangulation systems.
  • Evaluate and analyze optical parts from second sources/end-of-life (EOL).
  • Improve the performance of optical sensor systems.
  • Develop test tools and setups.
  • Define and implement optical component specifications.
  • Provide technical support to production, strategic purchasing, and quality assurance departments.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree or diploma in applied physics, optical engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with optical detectors, optical spectrometers, and analogue electronics.
  • Background in physics (laser), preferably with knowledge and experience with pulsed lasers.
  • Knowledge of optical design tools (Zemax) or circuit modeling software (LTSPICE) is an advantage.
  • Broad technical interests and a drive for innovative solutions.
  • Programming skills, particularly in Python, are an advantage.
  • Fluent English and basic knowledge of German.
  • Will to travel occasionally.
