Machinery Compliance Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Machinery Compliance Specialist to join our Machinery Safety team at TÜV SÜD. As a Technical Services Advisor, you will be responsible for providing expert advice to clients on achieving machinery compliance when placing machinery on the market or putting it into use.

This field-based role will involve working on customer sites to deliver services directly, setting the highest standards of professionalism, client liaison, and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide fee-earning machinery services and maintain targeted utilisation.
  • Perform regulatory compliance assessments of low-to-medium hazard machinery against PUWER, CE/UKCA, and LOLER requirements.
  • Ensure technical reports are written to a high standard and delivered on time to support invoicing and operational planning.
  • Submit expenses weekly for timely reimbursement and cost allocation to projects.
  • Complete all activities safely, adhering to work risk assessments, and instigate stop-work authority if safety issues are discovered on site.
  • Travel nationally and internationally to perform machinery services for fee-paying clients.
  • Drive own utilisation by engaging with the Operations Manager and Project Co-ordinator.

Requirements

  • Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, or mechanical/electrical experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of PUWER and LOLER regulatory requirements.
  • Good understanding of UKCA/CE marking requirements for machinery.
  • Experience in testing and inspection of mechanical equipment.
  • Computer literacy in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Experience in accurate technical writing.

Desirable Criteria

  • Professionally registered as an Engineering Technician (Eng Tech).
  • Member of a relevant engineering body, such as the Society of Operations Engineers (SOE) or the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).
