Student Research Assistant for Mathematical Modeling of Liver Lipid Metabolism

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement mathematical models using ordinary differential equations to simulate liver lipid metabolism and dynamics.
- Analyze the model dynamics using appropriate numerical methods and software tools, such as MATLAB, Python, or R.
- Collaborate with the research team to integrate experimental data into the models and validate model predictions, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
- Perform sensitivity analysis and parameter estimation to refine model accuracy and improve predictions.
- Document and report modeling methods, assumptions, and results clearly and accurately, using proper scientific notation and formatting.
- Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to ongoing research discussions, sharing knowledge and expertise.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Mathematics, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biophysics, or a related field, with a strong foundation in mathematical modeling and computational methods.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with knowledge in ordinary differential equations and dynamical systems.
- Experience with mathematical modeling software, such as MATLAB, Python, or R, and a basic understanding of biological systems and liver lipid metabolism.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Prior experience with computational biology or biostatistics is a plus, but not required.
