Role Overview
Your mission in this role:
This hybrid position focuses on orchestrating and executing all testing procedures related to battery systems and battery management systems (BMS). This encompasses both developmental assessments and qualification testing necessary for the type certification of the final product.
You will be instrumental in designing a comprehensive and secure battery and BMS through conducting development and qualification tests. You will oversee the entire testing process, which includes planning, documentation preparation, test hardware configuration, scheduling, constructing test setups, executing tests, documenting results, and collaborating with development teams for root cause analysis.
The tests will cover a range of areas, including Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing, HIL automation, thermal runaway assessments, short circuit evaluations, vibration tests, and other specialized environmental testing requests. Additionally, you may conduct tests on components or materials related to the battery and BMS, such as housing materials, new fuse designs, engineering versions of BMS software, and other intermediate products associated with our battery systems.
You will identify and develop tests that enhance the understanding of component and system behavior, particularly focusing on battery cells and battery packs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the creation and scheduling of test plans
- Clarify testing requirements
- Prepare documentation for test campaigns
- Develop and maintain testing setups
- Supervise and support test execution with external partners, as well as conduct tests personally
- Review and analyze test outcomes, producing comprehensive reports
- Conduct Test Reviews (TRRs)
Required Qualifications:
Assess your professional expertise:
- Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Over 5 years of experience in testing batteries or similar products within a technical setting (including Environmental Testing, Abuse Testing, Vibration, HIL Test Setups for electrical propulsion systems and/or components)
- Proficient in defining and constructing test systems and setups
- Technical knowledge in Battery Development and/or Testing for High Current applications or similar products
- Familiarity with HIL and software tools for automotive or aviation testing and logging (e.g., LabCar, dSpace, Simulink, CANoe, PCAN)
- Excellent written and spoken English language skills
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in the aviation industry and regulatory frameworks
- Knowledge of automotive standards such as ECE R100, ISO 26262, or aviation standards like DO160G and DO311A, or comparable standards from other sectors
- High Voltage training 2E in accordance with DGUV-I or equivalent
- Experience working in V-Cycle and AGILE/SCRUM environments, with familiarity in methodologies and tools (e.g., JIRA)
- Experience with PLM tools like Siemens Team Center or similar
- Experience in EASA-approved Design organizations [Part-21J] and understanding of the aviation certification process is advantageous
