Cloud Computing Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Computing Scientist to join our team at DESY, a leading research centre in Hamburg, Germany.
As a key member of our Information Technology group, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) by offering advanced scientific services accessible to researchers across Europe.
Our team is involved in various high-profile national and European projects, evaluating new and innovative IT technologies. You will collaborate with several scientific communities to identify services and software that will be offered by the German cloud node within the European Open Science Cloud.
About Your Responsibilities- Collaborate with scientific communities to identify services and software for the German cloud node
- Contribute to the overall design and architecture of the German node
- Implement solutions to integrate existing or new software into the node
- Participate in regular project meetings, workshops, and conferences held in various cities across Europe

About You- You have completed a master's degree or PhD in computer science, physics, mathematics, or related subjects, or comparable knowledge
- You are passionate about designing and building infrastructure that enables scientists across Europe to access essential cloud services effortlessly
- You have knowledge of web technologies such as Rest APIs, OpenID-connect, web frameworks, or similar
- Your experience with cloud infrastructures (e.g. Kubernetes, Openstack, containerisation) is of advantage
- You are a communicative team player who enjoys working in large international teams and is open to travel
- You have good spoken and written command of the English language
