Research Scientist - Central Nervous System Regeneration

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented PhD researcher to join our team at Helmholtz Zentrum München. As a research scientist, you will be part of our Research Unit focusing on Central Nervous System Regeneration, where we investigate the intricate interplay of glial cells in brain regeneration and the pathogenesis of glial scar formation subsequent to brain trauma.

Your Tasks:
  • Conduct experimental research using advanced techniques such as single cell and spatial transcriptomics, intracranial injections, and development of new assays for brain injuries in human models (brain organoids)
  • Analyze and integrate genetic and physiological data from animal models, human models and human samples
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to integrate findings and contribute to high-impact publications
  • Present research findings at national and international scientific meetings
Your Profile:
  • Exceptional students holding a Master's degree in a relevant field and a strong interest in glial biology
  • Demonstrable experience in molecular biology techniques, animal models, or glial biology
  • Outstanding motivation to participate in a competitive research program
  • Excellent English language proficiency, both written and spoken
