Welcome to the Lottery Marketing Specialist position with New York State

Minimum Qualifications:
Are you a Lottery Marketing Specialist eager to expand your reach? Preference will be given to current employees within designated areas before considering transfers across regions.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Six years of experience in overseeing a retail operation, managing sales accounts, or promoting products.
  • An Associate degree coupled with four years of relevant experience.
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher along with two years of pertinent experience.
Substitution:
You may substitute:
  • Successful completion of twelve or more semester credit hours in marketing for one year of experience.
  • One year of full-time retail management experience where 30% or more of your time was dedicated to lottery products for one year of required experience.
NY HELPS:
This position is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). This means that this role may be filled through a non-competitive appointment, with no examination required, during the NY HELPS program period.

Duties Description: As a Lottery Marketing Specialist reporting to the Supervising Lottery Marketing Representative, SG-18, you will be tasked with supporting sales, marketing, merchandising, and training initiatives within an assigned territory. Your responsibilities will encompass, but are not limited to:
  • Collaborating with Lottery retailers to enhance sales through various communication methods
  • Conducting regular visits to retailers within the designated territory
  • Partnering with retailers on Scratch-Off Game initiatives, including inventory oversight and merchandising
  • Delivering marketing and merchandising materials to retailers and establishing displays as necessary
  • Educating retailers on games, promotions, and optimal practices
  • Coordinating in-store winner awareness communication efforts
  • Proposing new equipment installations and monitoring equipment performance
  • Assisting retailers with problem resolution and addressing concerns
  • Recruiting potential new Lottery retailers
  • Completing assigned sales projects
  • Keeping retailer information current in Sales Wizard or similar applications
  • Preparing reports and participating in promotional events
  • Ensuring retailer adherence to Lottery policies
  • Referring safety, security, and regulatory matters to the Lottery Integrity and Investigations Unit
  • Traveling extensively to visit retailers within the assigned territory
