The successful candidate will work on the project "Quantifying Dynamical Regimes in the Ocean and the Atmosphere" as part of the German Science Foundation Transregional Collaborative Research Centre 181 "Energy Transfers in the Atmosphere and the Ocean".
About the ProjectThe project focuses on non-linear flow decomposition and non-hydrostatic effects in high-resolution weather and climate models. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing atmospheric energy budget in reanalysis data and models, quantifying non-hydrostatic effects in km-scale models, and disseminating the results through peer-reviewed publications and presentations at conferences.
About the RoleWe are looking for a highly skilled researcher with a PhD degree in physical sciences, preferably in atmospheric sciences or meteorology. The ideal candidate will have experience in carrying out and analyzing experiments with atmospheric or Earth system models of different complexity, advanced scientific programming skills, and familiarity with running and coding numerical models of geophysical flows.
