We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our team at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg. As a Data Scientist in Cancer Genomics and Epigenomics, you will play a key role in developing and implementing computational methods and workflows to analyze genomic and epigenomic data in the context of childhood cancer.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and train machine learning models to classify tumors based on DNA methylation patterns
- Design and implement computational pipelines to integrate and analyze large-scale genomic and epigenomic data
- Collaborate with researchers and clinicians to identify and prioritize research questions and projects
- Develop and maintain databases and software tools to support data analysis and visualization
- Communicate research findings and results to both technical and non-technical audiences
- PhD and master's degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics, biostatistics, computer science, or a related field
- 2+ years of postdoctoral experience in bioinformatics or a related field
- Strong programming skills in languages such as R, Python, and Bash
- Experience with Linux/Unix command line and database management systems
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
