Research Operations Director

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Operations Director to lead our Research Center operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day management of the Research Center, ensuring safe, effective, and efficient management of processes, and planning for research resources.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and oversee the daily operations of the Research Center, ensuring timely completions and meeting research and business needs.
- Plan, organize, and direct research operations to ensure the most effective use of assets while meeting research/business objectives.
- Coordinate the research center leadership team meetings, develop agendas, schedules, and ensure follow-ups.
- Ensure regulatory compliance, including safety, wage/hour laws, and other relevant regulations.
- Hold regular team meetings to provide short-term and long-term task direction, along with timely business updates.
- Monitor and manage capacity constraints, equipment problems, labor scheduling, and other operational issues to ensure research goals are met.
- Coach, support, and develop employees on their team in a manner that fosters effective collaboration and teamwork, demonstrating and modeling the Core Values.
- Establish and support individual and team performance goals that are attainable and aligned with business strategy.
- Hold employees accountable for achieving performance results and demonstrating work behaviors that promote collaboration and teamwork in an effective manner.
- Recognize and value employees through ongoing recognition of individual and team results.
- Encourage employee feedback and ideas for process improvements.
- Promote health, safety, and environmentally friendly practices.
- Ensure SHE programs are implemented and fully executed, and engage all employees in safety practices.
- Ensure RMS and Management Review is in place and effective, and provide oversight of quality levels through all stages of research processes and testing.
- Work in conjunction with Research Scientists and EZ Leads to establish project goals consistent with business unit goals, reflecting internal and external customer needs.
- Remain current on new technology, participating in professional meetings, career development activities, and encouraging others to bring information into research activities.
- Monitor research progress and meet with participating researchers to identify problems and opportunities impacting the business unit.
- Communicate with research leadership, business unit contacts, and external collaborators on progress of product opportunities and make recommendations regarding product testing and evaluation processes.
- Participate in product selection, advancements, assignment of rankings, and other relevant activities.
- Master's degree in an agriculture-related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in research operations.
- Proven track record of managing complex projects and leading high-performing teams.
- Ability to look several months forward to anticipate labor needs, resource needs, space requirements, and other operational issues.
- Leadership capabilities to motivate others, initiate projects, lead meetings, make decisions, and effectively solve problems.
- Positive attitude with realistic goal setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to foster teamwork, enhance a good working environment, and develop strong working relationships with a diverse group of people.
- Willingness to challenge the team and implement changes if necessary.
- Resilience and ability to maintain a positive attitude under stress.
- Knowledge about corn cultivation, agronomy, and trialing is essential (if not corn, then experience with other crops).
- Knowledge about corn products and markets is ideal (if not existing, then the person should be motivated to acquire this knowledge with priority).
- Fluency in English and German; French is a plus.
