Researcher in Quantum Optimization for Power Systems

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated researcher to work on a Master Thesis or Internship project focused on quantum optimization for power systems. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of new quantum algorithms and their application to real-world problems in power systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze existing partitioning algorithms and spectral methods based on network modularity
  • Identify use cases for graph partitioning in power systems-related studies, particularly for state estimation
  • Develop new or tailor existing QUBO formulations for graph partitioning objectives to the use cases found
  • Compare the partitioning results using classical algorithms with quantum optimization ansatz

Requirements:

  • Enrolled as a master student in a university
  • Good background in physics, electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, or related subjects
  • Good programming skills
  • Useful expertise in graph theory/network science, power systems, and linear algebra
