Finance Trainee Program Overview

Hapag-Lloyd AG is seeking a highly motivated and talented Finance Trainee to join our team. As a Finance Trainee, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in all key financial areas of our company, including Accounting, Controlling, Treasury & Finance, and M&A.

During the 18-month traineeship, you will actively support day-to-day tasks to build a solid understanding of financial processes and strategies. You will also assist in preparing annual reports, financial statements, management reports, and participate in budget planning and forecasting.

As a Finance Trainee, you will take ownership of smaller projects and contribute to larger, ongoing projects. You will gain insights into Treasury & Finance activities such as cash management, liquidity planning, and risk management. Additionally, you will work on M&A projects, including business case analysis and due diligence, and participate in audits to understand internal controls and governance processes.

Requirements
  • Completed master's degree in finance or a related field with top-notch academic results
  • First practical experience in finance is preferred
  • Passion for finance and numbers - with a strong analytical mindset
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English
  • Team-oriented personality, ability to work in a dynamic environment and adapt quickly to new situations
  • Proactive attitude, ready to tackle challenges and create innovative solutions
  • International experience is required
