Postdoctoral Researcher in Enzyme Identification and Biotechnology

Your Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at Forschungszentrum Jülich. As a Postdoctoral Researcher in Enzyme Identification and Biotechnology, you will be responsible for analyzing RNAseq data to identify genes involved in cell wall degradation and carbon flux. You will also screen metagenomic and genomic data using deep learning methods to identify degrading enzymes. Additionally, you will use Hidden Markov Models and machine learning to identify novel and better enzyme variants from a large proteome compendium.
Your Responsibilities:
- Analyzing RNAseq data to identify genes involved in cell wall degradation and carbon flux
- Screening metagenomic and genomic data using deep learning methods to identify degrading enzymes
- Using Hidden Markov Models and machine learning to identify novel and better enzyme variants from a large proteome compendium
- Generating structural models of enzymes and using machine learning to predict their enzymatic function and characterize their molecular recognition properties
- Using machine learning methods and simulation techniques to understand environmental effects on the enzymes and improving their stability and activity
- Publishing scientific results in international journals and traveling to national and international conferences
- (Co)-supervising PhD students
Your Profile:
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced researcher with a strong background in bioinformatics, computer science, data science, biophysics, or life science-related fields. You should have a proven track record in bioinformatics, biophysics, data analysis, and simulation sciences. Additionally, you should have very good practical experience in molecular biology, Next Generation Sequencing, and structural biology.
