Postdoctoral Researcher

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at Forschungszentrum Jülich. As a key member of our research group, you will be responsible for analyzing RNAseq data, screening metagenomic and genomic data, and developing novel enzyme variants using machine learning methods.
Key Responsibilities:- Analyze RNAseq data to identify genes involved in cell wall degradation and carbon flux
- Screen metagenomic and genomic data using deep learning methods to identify degrading enzymes
- Develop novel enzyme variants using Hidden Markov Models and machine learning
- Generate structural models of enzymes and predict their enzymatic function using machine learning
- Understand environmental effects on enzymes and improve their stability and activity using simulation techniques
- Publish scientific results in international journals and present at national and international conferences
- Co-supervise PhD students
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced researcher with a strong background in bioinformatics, computer science, data science, biophysics, or life science-related fields. You should have a proven track record in bioinformatics, biophysics, data analysis, and simulation sciences.
Requirements:- University degree (Master) and doctorate in a relevant field
- Excellent practical experience in molecular biology, Next Generation Sequencing, and structural biology
- Extensive experience in analyzing large datasets, especially genomics, transcriptomics, metagenomics, enzyme data, and structural data
- Experience with machine learning methods for data analysis and interpretation
- Knowledge in programming languages (Java, Rust, C/C++, Python) and statistical analysis using R/BioConductor/python
- Proven scientific communication skills in the form of scientific publications or equivalent
- Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken
