Program Specialist II

The Program Specialist II is a critical role within the Florida Department of Education, funded by the federal Charter Schools Program (CSP) grant. This position reports directly to the CSP Grant Director and is responsible for ensuring the compliance of grant projects and their related activities with federal and state requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Initiate and lead the review process of grant applications for new charter schools to ensure all applications meet federal and state statutory requirements.
- Track and manage ongoing budget reviews of grant recipients, maintaining accurate records of the budget amendment approval and denial process.
- Provide technical assistance to grant sub-recipients and charter school district contacts, offering guidance on grant requirements and allowable expenditures.
- Review and approve subgrantees' required documents and reporting requirements to ensure compliance with grant requirements and restrictions.
- Assist with projects as assigned by the CSP Grant Director and/or Charter Schools Director.
This position plays a vital role in ensuring the success of grant projects and their related activities. The Program Specialist II must be able to work effectively under tight timeframes, balance multiple priorities, and maintain goal-directed behavior and performance, even in stressful conditions.
Requirements: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and proficiency with Microsoft Excel are required. Previous budgeting, accounting, or grant experience, or related experience, is desired. The successful candidate will demonstrate skill in operating personal computer software, proficiency in processing financial and budget requests, and ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
