Senior Electrical Systems and Components Engineer

Vattenfall, a leading European energy company, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Systems and Components Engineer to join its Wind Turbine Generator and Transformer Technology team. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of wind turbines and their electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities- Assist and support the Engineering organization with operational control of wind turbines, both electrical and mechanical.
- Build up knowledge on electrical and mechanical systems, create and deploy best practices for the industry.
- Support throughout the lifetime of wind turbines by assessing technical solutions, conducting Root Cause Analysis, and ensuring technical integrity of components and systems.
- Provide technical and project-based expertise into the business, with extensive experience in electrical design of modern wind turbines and wind farm systems.
- Perform ad hoc support to the O&M organization with technical expertise from commissioning to end of warranty to decommissioning of wind farms.
- Investigate predictive maintenance strategies for WTG electrical systems using FMECA.
- Support projects during the Technical Due Diligence and contract phase.
- Support interface management during construction phase of electrical installations in on- and offshore wind farms.
- Establish relationships with internal stakeholders like operation and maintenance, project managers, and suppliers.
- Prepare technical requirements for projects and clarify them during the preparation of contract documents.
- Review design documentation from suppliers and contractors to ensure that projects are completed according to specifications.
- Develop power system protection philosophy for WTG and networks, including protection functions, relay settings, and signal interface with SCADA.
- Be active in machine interface learning for WTGs and wind farms.
- Prepare and update technical documentation.
- M. Sc. in Electrical Engineering or comparable.
- Broad-based theoretical knowledge and practical foundation.
- Required knowledge/experience in:
- WTG Generator and Transformer Technology.
- Wind industry project engineering.
- Troubleshooting within components and complex mechatronic systems.
- Preferred knowledge/experience in:
- Offshore wind industry with its state-of-the-art technology.
- Debugging of fault events on WTG and park level.
- Python, Matlab Simulink, or comparable data analysis tools.
- Basic knowledge in EMR, EMC, Lightning, and Bonding.
- HV 66 kV/132 kV WTG power equipment as switchgear and cable between trafo and switchgear.
- Open mindset for exploring unknown areas.
- Min 5 to 10 years of professional experience in this respective industry.
- Teamwork and communication skills for close cooperation with various departments in an international environment.
- Good language skills, both writing and oral, in English. Other language skills, such as Danish, German, or Swedish, are beneficial.
- Flexible approach to travel for visiting OEMs and turbine inspections at site or workshop.
