Job Summary

The Landscaping Career Technical Educator Instructor is a grant-funded position at the Gadsden Re-Entry Center or Jefferson Correctional Institution. This role is responsible for teaching an assigned career technical education program to a diverse population, resulting in industry-recognized certifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement curriculum for career technical education programs
  • Teach and facilitate learning environments for adult students
  • Work with students and educational staff to create academic and career pathways plans
  • Maintain knowledge of construction principles and applications, adult learning, and teaching strategies
  • Utilize problem-solving techniques and critical thinking to assess situations and make sound judgments
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and project team members
Requirements

Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, and six years of experience in the vocational being taught; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and two years of occupational experience in the vocation being taught; or additional education or training may substitute on a year-for-year basis for up to four years of the required experience.

Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of adult learning, teaching adult students, and facilitating a rich learning environment for diverse populations; excellent human relationship skills; project management, organization, and responsive follow-through; ability to use MS Office applications and internet navigation; basic graphic design experience using MS Word and PowerPoint; ability to communicate course material to students in an effective manner.
