Job Summary

The Landscaping Career/Technical Educator Instructor is a grant-funded position at the Gadsden Re-Entry Center or Jefferson Correctional Institution. This role is responsible for teaching an assigned career/technical education program to a diverse population, resulting in industry-recognized certifications. The Instructor will work with students and educational staff to develop academic and career pathways plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach an assigned career/technical education program to a diverse population.
  • Develop and implement curriculum and lessons that meet the needs of adult learners.
  • Facilitate a rich learning environment that promotes student success.
  • Work with students and educational staff to develop academic and career pathways plans.
  • Meet the minimum training and experience requirements for the position.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, and six years of experience in the vocational being taught.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution and two years of occupational experience in the vocation being taught.
  • Additional education or training may substitute on a year-for-year basis for up to four years of the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of construction principles and applications.
  • Knowledge of adult learning and teaching strategies.
  • Knowledge of TCC and DOC policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Florida Department of Education vocational frameworks.
  • Excellent human relationship skills.
  • Skilled in project management and organization.
  • Ability to use MS Office applications and internet navigation.
  • Basic graphic design experience using MS Word and PowerPoint.
