Job Summary
The Senior R&D Engineer will be responsible for leading the development of software products and supporting systems at Ansys. This role requires advanced technical and problem-solving skills to tackle complex issues, satisfy customer requirements, and accomplish development objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in planning, architecture, and research to drive innovation and growth.
- Perform complex development activities, including user experience, software design, and solver research.
- Employ best practices and maintain them through technical reviews and mentoring.
- Verify complex bugs, perform release testing, and provide beta support for assigned products.
- Research and develop solutions for problems discovered by QA or product support.
- Understand marketing requirements for products, including target environment, performance criteria, and competitive issues.
- Work independently with minimal supervision and take on planning and mentoring responsibilities.
Requirements
- BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 5 years' experience, MS with 3 years' experience, or PhD with 1 year experience.
- Commercial experience with software design and development methodologies.
- Coursework and practical experience developing models in computational fluid dynamics and thermal sciences.
- Practical experience in numerical software development.
- Fortran experience.
- Willingness to learn scientific computer languages, including Python.
- Familiarity with commercial CFD software.
- Familiarity with various aspects of parallel computing and HPC.
- Experience delivering high-quality products in a large-scale commercial software development environment.
- Understanding of customer requirements and tools used in this domain.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Oral and written English proficiency.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a geographically distributed team.
