Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a supply chain strategy that supports Novanta's business growth objectives and World of Medicine's expectations for supplier performance, inventory reduction, and quality improvement.
• Implement productivity and supplier improvement plans in collaboration with global category management teams to achieve the MIS Annual Operating Plan for Supply Chain.
• Establish a network of support resources to facilitate supply chain improvements and leverage supplier capabilities in product design, cost reduction, and lead time reduction while maintaining customer satisfaction.
• Support supplier performance issues in a timely manner to ensure minimal business disruption and champion resolving all serious supply issues via appropriate methodology.
• Obtain competitive bids, analyze costs, and negotiate/award contracts to nominated key suppliers based on robust commodity strategies and total cost of ownership.
• Drive inventory turns by developing and implementing innovative material replenishment processes, including Kanban's, vendor-managed inventory, and supplier consignment.
• Participate in and support global Kaizen events to eliminate waste and achieve significant benefits throughout the Novanta supply chain.
• Communicate objective performance metrics to key suppliers via quarterly business reviews focused on lead time reduction, on-time delivery improvement, quality improvement, cost reduction, service, and compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or supply chain discipline.
• 3+ years of strategic sourcing experience.
• Strong ability to communicate and influence.
• Ability to learn new systems, meet objectives, and work independently in a matrix organization.
• Experience in category management, vendor visits, supplier audits, negotiations, and contract agreements.
• Ability to drive cost reduction projects to achieve consistent PPV/PPI and overall material spend reductions.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, able to converse well with peers, Novanta leadership, and supplier leadership.
• Excellent negotiation skills, able to articulate previous negotiations and lessons learned.
• Proven ability to ensure material availability while reducing inventory and increasing inventory turns.
• Analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
• Ability to understand and apply lean manufacturing methods.
• Strong written and verbal communication/presentation skills in English; German is a plus.

Travel Requirements

• Approximately 20% travel, including international travel.
