We work across various industries globally and are actively seeking a dedicated and experienced EHS Governance Specialist to govern multiple projects and personnel in Frankfurt. For this full-time, permanent role, the ideal candidate should possess extensive experience in the EHS field, particularly in critical industries such as data centers, oil & gas, or pharmaceuticals.
Your Role:
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for general contractors (GCs), development delivery, the VP of Construction, and operational management as needed.
- Collaborate with the procurement department to participate in GC, Third Party Risk Management (TPRM), Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ), and Request for Proposal (RFP) processes, as well as subsequent review meetings and interviews for your designated projects.
- Conduct monthly reviews with the EH&S Director and Senior EH&S Director and provide monthly progress reports for EMEA.
- Perform EHS site inspections and audits of GCs on the tender list for compliance, and engage in quarterly PQQ review processes with the VDC procurement department.
- Participate in the safety-in-design process, lead investigations of incidents and accidents, and support GC safety improvement plans when necessary.
- Review and approve monthly EHS report compliance across your designated projects, ensuring submission by the 2nd day of the following month.
- Enhance the environmental aspects and impacts program across EMEA, verify environmental impact assessment (EIA) compliance, and supervise VDC Procore system compliance.
- Mentor and provide guidance to site EH&S Advisors and Managers on implementing and maintaining effective EH&S systems, policies, procedures, KPI compliance, RAMS processes, operational and construction interface activities, and contractual requirements.
- Conduct EHS onboarding for site EH&S Advisors and Managers, hold weekly one-on-one TEAMS calls for support, and visit sites at agreed times throughout project durations to monitor performance.
- Promote ASafe Global's Vision Zero culture of caring philosophy with respect to EH&S standards, behaviors, and performance, and lead EH&S wellness initiatives and campaigns for your designated projects, aligning with other international regions.
- Participate in bi-annual EHS Safety Management System Reviews to incorporate lessons learned, customer requirements, and best practices, and ensure these lessons are shared across all EMEA sites.
- Attend customer meetings (e.g., biweekly progress meetings, incident close-out meetings) and site walks as required.
- Ensure the necessary appointment of GCs under statutory obligations, including ASafe Global fit-out activities for the projects.
- Challenge norms and drive continuous improvement in EHS initiatives.
- Participate in the annual selection and awards for GC EHS winners and assist with the annual preparation and execution of Construction Safety Week.
- Act as an ambassador for corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives and programs.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislative changes, communicate their impact to the EH&S Director, Senior EH&S Director, and key stakeholders, and attend courses and seminars run by external sources to ensure accurate interpretation and implementation of EH&S legislation.
- Adapt to changes or expansions in duties within the general scope of your position as the business of ASafe Global evolves, ensuring no tasks are beyond your capability.
What you'll need to succeed:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in EHS, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
- Experience in critical industries such as data centers, oil & gas, or pharmaceuticals is preferred.
- Proven ability as a client/owner representative and in regulatory engagement.
- Fluent in German with a comprehensive understanding of German EHS legislation.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise, speak, and present effectively to senior management.
- Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
- In-depth understanding of local, state, and federal HSE regulations with a track record in developing and implementing HSE programs, policies, and procedures.
- Certification such as Certified Safety Professional, ISO, NEBOSH, or equivalent is preferred.
Salary: Up to €120k pa all inclusive (DOE).
NB: A valid Visa/Work permit for the specific job location is essential for this role.
