Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Avionics Expert to join our team at Volocopter GmbH. This role involves ensuring compliance with certification requirements for the VoloCity Avionics design, aligning with EASA standards and collaborating closely with our Avionics Engineering Team.

About the Role

As a Compliance Verification Engineer Avionics, you will play a key part in our Office of Airworthiness. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the Avionics Engineering Team in making informed design choices and test planning decisions that minimize certification risks.
  • Preparing and conducting meetings with authorities to discuss and agree on the certification strategy and necessary Means of Compliance.
  • Driving the Certification Program for Avionics aspects in close collaboration with Airworthiness Engineers and the Engineering Department.
  • Reporting certification risks and potential mitigations in the respective field to the Head of Airworthiness.
  • Formally verifying compliance in the field of the VoloCity Type Certification.
  • Participating actively in rulemaking activities related to VTOL Avionics design.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Master's Degree in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, communications engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in aerospace development projects with involvement in certification activities, ideally as a nominated CVE or equivalent such as DER.
  • Detailed knowledge of certification processes (Part 21) and requirements under EASA (CS-23, CS-25, CS-27, CS-29, ideally also SC-VTOL).
  • Knowledge of certification deliverables according to DO-160, DO-178, and DO-254 in line with the ARP4754A framework.
  • Ideal prior participation in standardization or rulemaking activities such as EUROCAE, ASTM, etc.
  • An excellent command of the English language.
