Group Category Manager

STARK Sourcing is a cross-country organization responsible for all sourcing activities in STARK Group. We are the only true cross-border procurement organization in the building materials industry in Europe, and we take pride in delivering the right products at the right price to our customers.
Job Content- You will understand the market, product category, and price dynamics within the categories and what it takes to become the winning distributor in the Timber & Panels category.
- Staying current on industry developments, trends, and internal business analyses to make strategic decisions and shape the categories.
- Maximizing the performance and profitability of the categories.
- You will develop, implement, and continue to evolve a group category strategy for the categories, including developing a European Sourcing Strategy for Timber & Panels, in collaboration with business units aligned with Sourcing Advisory Board decisions.
- You will collaborate with Business Units to design an attractive Group offering in the category, that can be presented to customers and suppliers.
- You will drive and manage agreed-upon European activities with European suppliers, ensuring successful execution.
- You will establish a structured meeting framework with key suppliers/partners, to foster strong relationships, effective communication, and common development of the categories.
- You will define and agree upon campaigns and marketing activities in coordination with Category teams in the business units.
- You will act as a point of contact for suppliers joining the European Supplier Program, on development of products and cooperation across business units.
- You will align, coordinate, and lead the decision-making processes for European assortment activities in close collaboration with Category teams in the business units.
- You will undertake and oversee digitalisation projects in cooperation with European supplier/partners, leveraging technological advancements for operational excellence and growth.
- You will facilitate sharing of best practice to drive performance and compliance.

- You will report directly to Group Category Director Commodities, Jan Henning Bystrøm.
- Your manager is located in Norway, but re-location is not necessary for this position.
- However, some travelling must be expected since you will have a lot of interactions with local business unit teams.
- You have excellent stakeholder management skills.
- You have the capability and interest to work on 'everything'; from strategy and strategic direction to details on product level.
- You have strong relationship management and networking skills, as well as excellent communication skills.
- You have prior experience in category management, industry experience is considered a plus but not a must.
- You have a strong strategic mindset.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to assimilate information.
- Resilient and able to constructively challenge and influence at a senior level.
- Knowledge of and/or interest in sustainability.
- You have drive and curiosity, are proactive, innovative and an initiator – these are words that describe you.
- You thrive in collaborating with others.
- Comfortable in working in English (corporate language).
