Job Title: SDN & Packet Network Engineer

Colt Technology Services is seeking a highly skilled SDN & Packet Network Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our network operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our packet and SDN networks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and troubleshoot network issues across a pan-European MPLS infrastructure and IP services.
  • Participate in a 24/7 shift pattern to provide timely support to customers.
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of customers' bespoke networks and services.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, acting as a single point of contact for all customer issues.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key interconnect partners and vendors.
  • Coordinate tasks assigned to other teams, such as Field Maintenance or Technical Assistance Centre.
  • Maintain accurate records of events throughout a fault duration using Colt's Remedy-based Fault Management System.
  • Resolve or escalate faults as appropriate, according to product SLAs.
  • Identify, plan, and implement solutions for recurring problems on IP and Ethernet networks.
  • Generate technical reports for customer RFO/RCA requests.
  • Manage software upgrades in coordination with vendor and Colt teams involved.
Requirements:
  • Direct experience in Layer 1-2-3 services and technologies, including IP fundamentals and various protocols.
  • Working experience with implementing, diagnosing, and troubleshooting IP access, MPLS, and VPN solutions across a pan-European network.
  • Understanding of provisioning and maintaining IP, Ethernet, and Optical services across backbone networks.
  • Knowledge of LAN-based products.
  • Experience with UNIX-based applications and troubleshooting tools.
  • Experience with network management and support systems.
  • Fluent in German and English.
  • Formal IT qualification, such as CCNP, CCSP, CCNA, or CompTIA Network+.
