Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our Wealth Management team at Hirschman Associates. As a key member of our legal department, you will provide comprehensive legal advice to our business units on matters related to banking operations and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal counsel on contract drafting, negotiation, and implementation, as well as regulatory compliance and risk management.
  • Stay up-to-date with regulatory requirements and manage compliance issues to support business initiatives effectively.
  • Draft, negotiate, and review a wide range of legal documents and agreements related to Wealth and Asset Management.
  • Advise on the interpretation and application of new and existing regulatory requirements, including EU-wide standards and sustainability directives.
  • Identify legal risks across transactions and advise on mitigation strategies.
  • Manage potential disputes and act as the first point of contact for resolving legal conflicts.
  • Support internal governance activities, including board and committee meetings, through guidance on legal standards.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of internal policies and guidelines to align the bank's operations with legal requirements.
  • Partner with Compliance and Risk departments to address and preempt regulatory and compliance issues.
  • Collaborate with various departments on cross-functional projects, providing legal support in new product launches and digital initiatives.
  • Conduct training sessions and develop resources to ensure internal teams are well-informed about relevant legal and regulatory updates.

Requirements

  • Fully qualified lawyer with extensive knowledge and experience in Wealth and Asset Management and broader banking operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of supervisory law, securities law, and EU regulatory frameworks impacting the financial sector.
  • Strong interest in digital solutions, IT infrastructure, and the intersection of technology with banking processes.
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills for managing information across various departments and locations.
  • Fluent German and English proficiency, with the ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly and effectively.
  • Highly detail-oriented, capable of independent and pragmatic decision-making.
  • Confident, adaptable, and culturally aware with strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Eagerness to travel for business as needed.
