Scientist for Mathematical Modeling and Numerical Simulation of Semiconductor Lasers

We are seeking a highly skilled researcher to join our team at the Ferdinand-Braun-Institut, Leibniz-Institut für Höchstfrequenztechnik (FBH). The successful candidate will be responsible for the mathematical modeling and numerical simulation of semiconductor lasers in the Chip Design group.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop semiconductor lasers with high output power and spectral stability
- Perform numerical simulation of optical amplification, carrier transport, and propagation of electromagnetic fields using existing software tools
- Supervise the development of modern software for the simulation of semiconductor lasers based on the numerical solution of the drift-diffusion equations in cooperation with a project partner
- Perform comparative analyses of experimental results and simulation results
Requirements:
- Master's or Diploma degree in physics, photonics, electrical engineering, or a related field
- Experience and knowledge in one or more of the following areas: theoretical knowledge in semiconductor physics, laser theory, electrical engineering, handling commercial simulation programs, programming languages Fortran, C++, MATLAB, Python, Julia
- Independent and careful working style, high degree of self-initiative, strong ability to communicate and work in a team
- Excellent written and spoken English skills, German language skills desirable
